The Bailey Group takes the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

“Ice is brr! We need money for the cure!” we all yelled, just before dumping buckets full of freezing cold ice water on our heads.

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has spread like wildfire on social media. Even those choosing to live under a rock haven’t been able to avoid it. Whether you hate it, love it, or are just plain tired of it, no one can say it isn’t working. As of Wednesday, August 20, The ALS Association says they have received “$31.5 million in donations compared to $1.9 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 20).”

Since our office took the Ice Bucket Challenge in honor of Keith Jones, who lost his battle with ALS on January 23, 2009, we’ve seen an incredible outpouring of support from the community to help give to The ALS Florida Chapter and Project 2-4-20. In case you aren’t familiar with Project 2-4-20, it was established by Keith before his passing with the goal of raising $2,042,020 to find a cure for ALS by 2020.

In the video, Mark Bailey, Sr., challenged a few of our partner companies to donate to The ALS Florida Chapter and/or take the Ice Bucket Challenge. We are excited to share that Florida Blue’s Chairman and CEO, Pat Geraghty, accepted our challenge and has since challenged Hugh Greene from Baptist Health and Shad Khan of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Thank you, Pat and Florida Blue, from the bottom of our hearts for your support of The ALS Association Florida Chapter and Project 2-4-20.
